Using jQuery to Create Sophisticated User Interfaces
Synopsis: A few months ago we had a short tutorial on jQuery. At the time I promised to do a longer and more in-depth talk. Since then, the adoption of jQuery has only accelerated. This javascript library is incorporated in the Microsoft MVC framework and the Microsoft AJAX controls are now exposed as jQuery plug-ins. Whether you are using ASP.NET, PHP, or some other technology, knowledge of jQuery is quickly becoming a required skill.
In this talk we will cover:
jQuery basics - what it is and where to get it
Incorporating it into Visual Studio and using Intellisense
Selecting HTML elements and applying styles, events, and behaviors
The jQuery UI user interface library
jQuery UI ThemeRoller
jQuery AJAX and ASP.NET
