Semantic Web technology has been around for years in academia, but businesses are now starting to embrace this compelling technology. The semantic web is a structuring of information that is understandable by software, such that that software can perform tedious tasks like searching and combining information.

The Semantic Web was a very hot topic at this year's DrupalCon because Drupal is one of the technologies that is best-positioned to realize the promise of the Semantic Web. This presentation provides an introduction to the Semantic Web and discusses how Drupal uses this technology. Topics addressed include the following:

A brief overview of Semantic Web modules for Drupal is also covered.

Bill Shaouy is an IBM IT Architect with 17 years experience in the IT industry, many of which have been spent in a technical leadership role. With several patents, Bill also serves in a patent development leadership role in IBM.
