Profile Information

About Me:
I am a DBA/Developer working in the transportation industry specializing in performance optimization and system infrastructure. I develop and support the database technology that powers a large ITS (intelligent transportation systems) application, consisting of client-server, web, and wireless device components, used by over 300 clients in all fifty states.

Prior to this I did Data Warehousing for a private consulting firm that serviced some of the largest banks in the world. We built a large ColdFusion/JAVA application that provided transactional analysis and profitability modeling using monthly commercial and retail operational data imports. And yes, migrating data from a 30 plus year old VAX/VSM or System z (IBM Mainframe) banking application into a web-based SQL Server model is as hard as it sounds.

Coincidentally, I got my first gig in the industry about ten years ago. The guy that gave my break - Michael Zadig (current site member). I can't kiss his ass, err, speak highly enough about him.

Before riding the internet wave of the new millennium, I spent my days (and nights) as a chef in South Florida for 18 or so years.
Reasons I Attend Meetings:
I am humbled and fascinated by the fact that in this industry you can always meet someone that offers something of value to share. I leave every user group meeting I go to with some nugget of knowledge that I didn't have when I got there.
Parts of Atlanta I Frequent:
I am strictly an OTP kind of guy. Northside, even.
How did you find AtlantaUserGroups.com
