I am recruiting for an Immediate Opportunity for a Sr. Unix Systems Engineer. The ideal candidate will be out going, hardworking, eager Unix professional that is experienced in Unix System Administration using Solaris. This position is located in Buckhead near Lenox Mall/ Phipps Plaza and is accessible via Marta.

 

The Unix Systems Engineer will perform day to day operations in a  24x7 production OLTP environment to include proactive monitoring of system metrics (CPU, disk, etc), identify system bottlenecks (network and storage IO), install routine OS and application patches, add/delete users, backup/restoration of data, respond to system failure conditions, etc. The candidate will install, configure and administer OS builds (Sun Solaris, Linux) and commercial applications that support our production environment on Unix. The candidate will perform duties to support Oracle running on Sun Solaris servers such as allocating and adjusting storage partitions. The candidate will write and maintain standard operating procedures for all systems. The candidate will write Shell Scripts (Bourne, Perl), edit crontab entries, snoop/troubleshoot client and application connections to identify source of problems. The candidate ensures that all tasks are done following best practices.

 

Requirement (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

 

Required Skills

             Enterprise UNIX administration (Solaris 10 preferred)

             SAN and Fibre experience

             RAID configuration and support including SVM, LVM and VxVM

             Strong scripting skills (BASH, Perl, Expect, TCL, AWK, etc.)

             Technical escalation point as part of on-call support

             Installing, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting Apache, Postfix, and

             Bind.

             Experience with encryption software, Load Balanced SSL configurations and

             certificates

             Experience with automation tools (cfengine, puppet, etc.)

             OS Security methods, and network security methods (Firewalls, Router, system,

             and ACLs).

             Strong understanding of virtualization techniques (Sun Zones, KVM, VMWare,

              etc.)

             Must have excellent communication, organization and project management

            skills.
