Topic: The Security Implications of IPv6
Speaker: Mike Warfield
Senior Researcher and Analyst
IBM-ISS
Atlanta, GA
IPv6 is the "Next Generation" IP protocol but has been largely ignored in areas of the world rich in IPv4 addressing capacity.
However, IPv6 is available anywhere the Internet is available, whether end users realize it or not. IPv6 carries with it a number of security implications for the Internet in general, IPv4 or IPv6, and transitional mechanisms have implications and impact even on pure IPv4 environments.
Michael Warfield is a Senior Researcher and Analyst for the X-Force Threat Analysis Team of IBM Internet Security Systems, Inc. (IBM-ISS). He is responsible for doing research into security vulnerabilities and intrusion protection techniques for IBM-ISS X-Force, the research division of IBM-ISS.
