Event Description

The success of the inaugural Festival on Ponce was so strong that the Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces will now hold two events in the Olmstead Parks: one in spring, and one in fall.  The Spring Festival on Ponce, which was recently named by the Southeast Festival Association as the Best New Event.  is a two day outdoor art and crafts festival to be held in the Olmsted chain of parks along Ponce de Leon Ave. on April 14-15, 2012.  These beautiful parks have lovely trees and paths and great visibility from one of Atlanta's truly historic avenues.  This is a unique and wonderful opportunity for locals and visitors to appreciate the vision and legacy of one of America’s most celebrated landscape architects, Fredrick Olmsted, Sr.

This is the second year to hold an outdoor arts and crafts festival in the chain of parks on Ponce de Leon Ave in the historic Druid Hills neighborhood.  Approximately 150 (mostly) local artists and crafters will enjoy the unique beauty of Frederick Olmsted’s vision.  This event will be very conservative, with a sensitivity to the park and neighborhood.  Emerging artists of all stripes are encouraged to participate.

“Instead of moaning about taxes on April 14 and 15, we hope that neighbors and visitors will come see the extraordinary gardens of the Olmsted Linear Park and stay to peruse the 150 local artists who will take up residence there for the weekend!  We are very proud that our local artists will be able to draw attention to both the historic parks and the Druid Hills community in a positive way,” says Patrick Dennis, President of the Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces.

The festival is organized and run by artist volunteers who understand the needs and challenges of artists and how best to connect with consumers during this difficult economy.
