Abstract:

Brewing is perhaps the world's oldest documented process, and certainly one of the most popular. In this talk and tour of the 5 Seasons Brewery, Master Brewer Kevin McNerney will discuss the history of brewing, changes to the process over time, and how 5 Seasons has improved upon the process to deliver consistently excellent beverages since 2001.

Bio:

Kevin began his professional brewing career in 1992 while attending the University of Colorado, in Boulder, Colorado. The first brewery Kevin worked for was Rockies Brewing Company in Boulder (the first micro brewery in the country). In 1993, he was hired as Head Brewer at Avery Brewing Company, a small micro brewery also in Boulder, Colorado. At Avery Kevin refined his knowledge of brewing the finest quality ales. In 1995, Kevin was given the opportunity to build and open Mammoth Brewing Company, a brewpub nestled in the Sierra Nevada Mountain range in Mammoth, California. In 1996, at the age of twenty-six, Kevin and three other founding partners started building Sweetwater Brewing Company in Atlanta, Georgia. Kevin's title as Brewmaster helped consistently grow Sweetwater Brewing Company into what is now the largest regional brewery in the Southeast. Kevin resigned as Brewmaster of Sweetwater Brewing Company in August 2008 in order to dedicate more time to his wife Sabrina and children. Kevin took over the Brewmaster position at 5 Seasons in September 2008 and has spent the past three years creating delicious and inventive beers for the lucky crowds in Sandy Springs.
